If we were to choose a plant symbol of Ukraine, it would not be kalyna, marigolds, or an ear of wheat. It would be sunflower seeds.
There are three dimensions to this choice.
The first is economic, because Ukraine is the largest producer of sunflower oil in the world.
The second is aesthetic, because a sunflower flower and a sunflower seed is a perfect function inside a perfect form.
And the third dimension is symbolic, because millions of sunflowers returning after the sun are the best metaphor for today's Ukraine.
V o z i a n o v studio developed a print that we dedicated to sunflower seeds and named sunflowers babies, because to some extent every Ukrainian is a sunflower child.
