Vytynanka "Confession"

Vytynanka “Confession” is a collaboration with Daria Alyoshkina, a Ukrainian artist whose monumental vytynanka havs gained international recognition. We used modern techniques to make the original deep-red vytynanka the centerpiece of a white linen shirt design.As Daria describes her work: “This vytynanka has two names: ‘Tree of Life,’ the more traditional classical name, and my working title — ‘Confession.’ I drew inspiration from the classic ‘tree of life’ composition — a tree in a pot, with a flower as its crown and a decorated pysanka as its roots. I often use a flower-tree motif to tell stories of love. On the stems of the ‘tree-in-a-pot’ are birds; the lower stems symbolically depict a male bird, and the upper stems — female birds. The plot is simple but eternal: the male bird declares his love to the female bird.”
